When it comes to selecting cymbals for the wide variety of gigs I play, Sabian is always my go-to. No matter the style—whether it’s the raw power of heavy metal or the delicate nuance of light jazz—there’s always a Sabian cymbal in my setup that fits the moment perfectly. Their sonic range, musicality, and responsiveness are second to none.
Sabian’s legacy began in 1981, when Robert Zildjian, part of the legendary Zildjian family, founded the company in Meductic, New Brunswick, Canada. Dissatisfied with the direction of the family business, Robert set out to create a new standard in cymbal making—one that would honor the traditions of hand craftsmanship while embracing innovation. The name “Sabian” is actually derived from the first letters of his children’s names: Sally, Billy, and Andy.
Since then, Sabian has grown into one of the most respected cymbal makers in the world, trusted by top drummers across every genre. Their groundbreaking lines—like HHX, AAX, and Artisan—continue to push the boundaries of tone and creativity.
What amazes me most is their versatility. With every new release, Sabian seems to raise the bar even higher. They’re not just cymbals—they’re instruments that help define my sound.
